Geneviève Bouthillier

Executive Vice President

In her role of Executive Vice-President, Geneviève Bouthillier oversees the strategy and operations of BDC Capital, BDC’s investment arm. She is responsible for the Bank’s direct investment funds, its fund of funds, impact investment pillar and venture capital incentivized programs. Her role involves supporting the growth of Canada’s most innovative businesses and developing initiatives that foster a strong and expanding innovation ecosystem.

With over 20 years of experience in finance, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate financing, she oversees a significant portfolio for the sustainable growth and competitiveness of the Canadian economy.

Before joining BDC as Senior Vice President, Growth and Impact Investments in 2024, Geneviève held the position of Vice President, Private Mid-Market Companies at the Caisse de dépôt et de placement du Québec (CDPQ), where she was responsible for investments in Quebec-based private medium-sized enterprises since 2020. Her mandate involved implementing capital deployment and value creation strategies. Her expertise also contributed to deploying and monitoring CDPQ’s sustainable investment strategy across various asset classes, as well as analyzing ESG performance of portfolio companies.

From 2005 to 2019, Geneviève served as Deputy Chief Investment Officer at Fondaction, where she led a team managing a portfolio of private companies. Previously, she worked in venture capital for CDPQ in the telecommunications sector. She began her career at Bell Canada and Groupe Vidéotron, holding various corporate finance positions.

Geneviève sits on the boards of several private companies and nonprofit organizations. She is also actively involved in initiatives promoting women’s entrepreneurship.
