Konata Lake

Konata Lake joined the BDC Board of Directors in January 2024.

Mr. Lake is a Partner at Torys LLP. Mr. Lake is the head of the firm’s Emerging Companies and Venture Capital Group and is a member of the firm’s Mergers and Acquisitions Group. He brings over 15 years of experience representing businesses on all aspects of corporate transactional matters.

Having practiced for over two years in New York, Mr. Lake provides comprehensive advice in cross-border transactions, helping clients expand their footprint in Canada, U.S. and internationally.

Mr. Lake completed his Juris Doc at Osgood Hall Law School and is a member of both the Ontario Law Society and the New York State Bar Association. Additionally, he was named by Chambers Canada as a Leading Lawyer in startups and emerging companies and by Best Lawyers in Canada – Leading Lawyer to watch in merger and acquisition law.

Mr. Lake serves on the Board of Directors for the Board of Trustees for the Hospital for Sick Children and is a member of and the Vice Chair of the Board of Governors of York University.
